Current Research

I am currently using micro- and nanoelectrodes to manipulate nanoparticles by employing a combination of AC electrokinetic forces, specifically dielectrophoresis (DEP) and AC electroosmosis.  By applying different frequencies and bias voltages, I am optimizing the positioning of the nanoparticles in different regions of the electrodes, as well as controlling the shape of the particle aggregation. The future goal is to use nanoelectrodes to focus biological nanoparticles, such as the protein actin, and utilize them in a hybrid top-down/bottom-up nanofabrication scheme.
